Mid 1800's handmade terracotta water pitcher,made on the Island of Crete, Greece.
This pot has a rounded bottom which facilitated the pouring of water and also the women who carried these without sharp edges to cut into their shoulders.
The water pots were not glazed and left porous to keep the water cool in summer.
In very good condition,no cracks,with natural wear and patina consistent with age.
